Sectional Preview: 13
The coming high school season is almost upon us. With that, we are taking a look at each Sectional in the state. Starting with 64 and ending with 1. Today, we are previewing Sectional 13.
Center Grove (17-8) – Lost 1st Rd. Regional
Center Grove loses a few keys pieces but return some really good players. This group is still young as they have a huge core of juniors and only three seniors. With one of the best big men in the state they will be able to run almost whatever they want. Some knockdown shooters will make this the team to beat in this sectional.
Franklin (14-9) – Lost 2nd Rd. Sectional
Franklin was a solid team last year but with their three seniors departing they are going to have to find scoring. They will be fine at the end of the year and should contend as the leading returning scorers are both juniors and they have a ton of underclassmen.
Franklin Central (11-13) – Lost Sectional Final
Franklin Central will be really bad this year because they lose their top seven scorers to graduation. They only return two guys that made an impact last year and they only scored a combined 4.1 points a game. A very down year on the horizon for Franklin Central
Greenwood (11-13) – Lost 1st Rd. Sectional
Greenwood loses three players but returns the bulk of their roster from last year. Their four leading scorers return for their senior year which is a big help for them. They will contend this year but will need to create a better post game to have a chance at a title.
Martinsville (5-16) – Lost 1st Rd. Sectional
Martinsville struggled after a lot of talent left the year prior and this year will be about the same. They will struggle at scoring the ball and will not be in shape to win the sectional. This is another rebuilding year for them and hopefully will be better next year.
Whiteland (15-8) – Lost 2nd Rd. Sectional
Whiteland was a pretty good team with Mike Valle in the post, but this year he is gone and the team will be completely different. They don’t have that matchup nightmare anymore and they will need to find some scoring and a post guy to replace Valle.
Contenders For 2017-18: Center Grove, Franklin, Greenwood
Prediction: Center Grove
Player to Watch: Trayce Jackson-Davis (Center Grove)
