SCBCA 2-A Preseason Team
Foster Bridges Landrum HS
Bridges enters this season with 1,255 career points. Bridges averaged 17.2 ppg. and grabbed 7.1 rebounds for the Cardinals last season. Bridges was named to All-Region and All-State team last year.
Quinton Alston Kingstree HS (Photo on the Front)
Alston a three-sport athlete for the Jaguars led the Jaguars football team to their first playoff appearance in a couple of years. Alston had 649 yards of receiving this season. Alston averaged 18.6 ppg and 7.2 rebounds last year for the Jaguars.
Zach Johnson Saluda HS
Johnson averaged 13.2 ppg and 9.0 rebounds a game to lead the Tigers to third round of the Class 2A playoffs. Johnson plays big in the post with his athleticism.
Kevon Wall Central (Pageland)
Wall is a mystery to me. Prep Hoops didn’t see Wall and Central play last season.
Dijon Goss Carvers Bay HS (Georgetown)
Goss plays football and basketball for the Bears. Goss averaged 13.5 ppg last season for Head Coach Jeff Mezzatesta. Goss plays wide receiver on the football field.
Prep Hoops South Carolina would like to add to this list regardless of classification some other players in Class 2-A to watch this season.
Juwan Gary (2019) Gray Collegiate (West Columbia) – Best Player in the 2-A Class
Gary averaged 18.9 ppg and grabbed 6.5 rebounds for the War Eagles last season. Gray led the War Eagles to Region 3-2A title. Gary and his teammates will look to get by region and city rival Keenan HS this season.
Tommy Bruner (2019) Gray Collegiate (West Columbia)
Bruner is the floor general for the War Eagles. Bruner averaged 8.3 last season for the War Eagles. Bruner has offers from UNLV and South Carolina State.
Zam Fredrick (2018) Calhoun County HS (St. Matthews)
Fredrick has great bloodlines and plays for his father at Calhoun County. Fredrick was key piece to the Saints run to Class 2A Lower State Finals. Fredrick 5’8 is a deep range shooting guard.
Mike Marsh (2018) Gray Collegiate (Columbia)
Marsh is a physical player with a soft touch in the post. Marsh has toned up his body over the years and looks to have a breakout season for the War Eagles. Marsh 6’8 helped lead the Eagles to the Class 2A upper state finals last season.
Matt Kormylo (2019) Southside Christian (Simpsonville)
Kormylo 6’4 shooting guard averaged 27.1 ppg last season for the Sabres. Kormylo can score anywhere on the floor especially behind the arch. Kormylo played AAU with Upward Stars Southeast 2019 this past summer.
