Ryan Davis to Vermont
One of the top remaining post prospects in the state of Illinois has come off the board! Conant 2018 center Ryan Davis saw a steady rise in his game and recruitment with his play last high school season and then on the circuit for Wisconsin Playground Warriors. He had close to 20 D1 offers. Davis has made the decision to commit to Vermont. Davis told PHI why they were his choice.
“I chose Vermont because of the level of academics and the amount of success they’ve had in their program. Also because of the great relationships I have with the entire coaching staff as well as the players there.”
The center has legit size at 6’9” with a strong body to anchor on the block. He played with the most aggressiveness we had seen out him during his career this summer which translated to rebounding at a high rate. What makes Davis intriguing as a prospect is his ability to step out and hit spot up jump shots all the way out to three. Floor spacing five men are very valuable in this day.
The moment for us where Davis established his lofty status was in Ft. Wayne at the Run N Slam back in May. Davis went head to head with fellow D1 mid-major post Tamell Pearson and they had an all-out battle! The Conant big man was unconscious early drilling shots from beyond the arc. As the game went on he started to put in work on the block playing physical scoring with his back to the basket. Also displayed his passing and was snatching rebounds with authority. This was the signature performance that we saw out of Davis during the spring and summer.
Davis is the #12 overall prospect in the state and #3 center. Look for him to be a very good four year player at the mid-major level!
