Recruiting Report: Zach Korba (2018)
The Apple Valley senior class knows winning. From their superstar guard down to their role players. Six-foot wing Zach Korba is one of those guys.
“This off-season I worked a lot with Jadee Jones during the summer and throughout the fall,” Korna said. “He ran our workouts and really pushed us to work harder.
“I got a lot faster and stronger thanks to the consistent workouts that we did. I worked out nearly every day in the summer and most of weekdays in the fall.”
Jones is of course the brother of Eagles leader Tre Jones and an assistant for the Eagles. Korba is a player that impressed NHR over the off-season month and a lot of it has to do with the work he has put in.
“I worked to improve almost all aspects of my game and become a more well rounded player,” Zach said. “My quickness and vertical improved a lot since last season as well.
“I plan on scoring more my senior year and really getting everyone involved, so I worked to improve in those areas too.”
The Eagles at times played nine guys in their rotation a year ago and Zach was one of those guys off the bench. Of the nine Jones, Luke Martens, Nathan Macho, Spencer Rolland, and Korba return this year.
That is six experienced players plus Logan Wangerin – now a senior as well – also saw varsity. Between those seven and a few others this is an experienced group that knows each other well.
“The team we have this year will be the tightest team you will have ever seen,” Korba said. “We all have been playing since 4th grade and we all feed off of each other. I plan on going back to back with the boys and plan on winning a lot this season.”
How does Korba plan to contribute more this season?
“I plan on scoring more this season and I want to take on a bigger role on the team, so I’m going be playing my hardest every time I’m on the floor. I am certain my team will be on board with me. We plan on going back to back with state championships and I’m really pumped for this season.”
Korba has the ability to play at the next level as well. Schools are starting to call and interest at the D3 level will pick up more this winter.
“I have been talking to a lot of teams in the MIAC, but I am still open to other schools and opportunities,” Korba said. “I’m looking for the right fit for me in terms of not only basketball but also my education.”
