Recruiting Report: Tyler Linder (2018)
Six-foot-4 power forward Tyler Linder of Worthington leads a team into the 17-18 season that won 14 games last year and has the potential for more. Linder is also a strong football prospect.
“I lifted and trained four days a week during the summer, and played with my high school in a summer league,” Linder said.
“I’ve been working on my handles with the ball and finishing at the basket. Working on my passes and shooting outside of the arch.”
Linder and his 14-15 points a game returns along with fellow seniors OD Othow, Logan Huisman, Stewart Merrigan, and Nathan Boneschans who all played big roles last season.
“We have a good team overall very good on the offensive side and defense almost better because our guys are so lengthy and work hard,” Linder said. “We expect a lot for this year, win our section and go to state.”
Going to state is the goal of Linder and his teammates. Section 2AAA is wide open this year. Mankato East is the favorite while Marshall and Waseca are always going to be contenders.
“We would love to go to state and have more than 16 wins this season. My personal goal is to help the team win each game and make it to 1,000 career points.”
Linder is a strong basketball player but is a football prospect at the college level. Several Northern Sun programs are in contact.
“Augustana, Minnesota State-Moorhead, and Northern state have contacted me about playing football for them,” Tyler said. “I’ve went to Augustana and Minnesota State Moorhead for visits.”
