Recruiting Report: Reggie Strong (2020)
Farragut 2020 point guard Reggie Strong is a lefty point guard that is long and wiry. He impacts the game with his tenacity on both ends. Defensively he uses his length and anticipation to get steals and get into his man causing havoc. Strong has the ability to get in the lane consistently with his crossover and quick first step. Jump shot continues to improve each time we see him especially from three. Excels playing in an up and down game where he can make plays in transition. Top 10 player in 2020 from Illinois. Mid-major plus prospect at this stage with high-major upside.
How was July with Young & Reckless?
“July was real good. It was fun and we had good players. Everyone had their role. It made it easy because I didn’t have to overwork and could just play my game. We came out with some good wins.”
He spoke about some of the areas he improved.
“Dribbling and scoring. I am always a defensive player. Rebounding too.”
Strong is preparing for a big year as the leader of Farragut.
“It is going well. We are a young team playing in the super conference. We have to play hard like we always do. My role is to run the offense being the point guard. Make sure everybody is in check.”
What is going on with recruiting?
“I got an offer from UIC. I recently visited Purdue. That was real fun.”
He broke down that Purdue visit.
“Their offense is a lot of pushing. The way they run their offense. Flashy players. I am a flashy player and that fits me.”
UIC has made him an early priority.
“They were real aggressive and had big players. On the court they were aggressive. They recruit good with big guards.”
SIU has also extended an early offer.
“The Salukis I like. They are another aggressive school. Their offense is a run and gun team.”
What schools that haven’t offered are showing interest.
“Butler, Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, and Purdue.”
