Recruiting Report: Josh Mack (2018)
Josh Mack, a class of 2018 guard at St. Maria Goretti, is a flat out sleeper among available guards in the state of Maryland. The senior, who is listed at 6-1, 180, is off to a fantastic start for the 5-0 Gaels. Mack has seen a sharp uptick in his recruitment since the summer, and we believe that trend could continue.
“I’m a high IQ guard who plays on both ends of the floor, gets paint touches, creates for my teammates, and can knock down shots,” said Mack of his overall game. “One thing I do on the court that most people don’t see is I really direct traffic on both ends of the floor.”
Mack, who was a standout for 17U Erick Green Premiere this summer, worked hard to become a more consistent shooter, along with improving his strength and athleticism.
“The biggest thing I learned this summer was how to pick my spots on offense and attack within the flow of the offense,” Mack stated. “I need to work on my pull up game and general one on one moves.”
His role with the team this year will be vital, given the fact that he is the only senior. Mack understands that he will need to lead by example while being aggressive on the court at all times.
“My personal goal this year is to make all conference teams in both of the conferences we play in,” Mack began. “The team goal is to finish top 2 in the BCL, win the the BCL tourney, and Alhambra.”
Mack says he is an honor roll student with a 3.5 GPA, and is hearing from a variety of programs at the next level.
“I’m being recruited by Shepherd, Washington Adventist, West Liberty, Merchant Marine Academy, and Georgian Court University,” he said. “My timetable for my decision will probably be after the season, but if I’m comfortable with a decision then I will go ahead and commit.”
What can Mack bring to a college program?
“Leadership, great guard play, and a winning mentality.”
