Recruiting Report: Ian McSwain (2018)
With his senior on the horizon, Goddard guard Ian McSwain is hopeful that his proactive recruiting approach can lure some college coaches to his gym.
There’s been a couple area programs that have taken notice of the 5’11 prospect, but nothing too serious yet; so he and his father have taken matters into their own hands.
“I’ve been talked to by Pittsburg State and Missouri Western, and I do really want to play basketball,” said McSwain. “My dad and I have been sending out film to college coaches, trying to get my recruitment up.”
A skilled guard with a diverse set of skills, McSwain — Kansas’ 87th-ranked 2018 — defined his skill-set to PHKS.
“I think I’m a very good leader, I think I’m a very good shooter and I can drive very well. I need to work on my left hand and moving the ball a little bit more,” said McSwain.
“During the summer, I was working on my left hand, and I went a couple tournaments and got a couple of looks. And I’ve really been honing in and trying to get my shooting better.”
And now, with his final season of high school hoops coming into view, McSwain says the objective is simple: to have some fun.
“Now that I’m a senior, I’m going to try and have a little bit more fun this year, because we’ve been taking the seasons too serious,” said McSwain. “And I’m going to try and get my teammates to do it with me.”
