Recruiting Report: Dylan Northrop (2018)
Ipswich 5-foot-8 point guard Dylan Northrop has put together a nice career and as a senior the goal for his team is improvement.
“I lifted weights five days a week and trained with my older brother,” Northrop said about his summer. “I also attended three team camps with my high school and numerous individual camps.
“My junior year went very well. I averaged about 14 points a game and our team won its first district game in three years.”
Dylan has been the point guard of the basketball team and the QB of the football team for several years and to get his team where he wants them to be Northrop has put in a lot of work in the off-season months.
“I focused the most on improving how quick my shot is,” Dylan said. “I trained to be able to set my feet quicker and get a shot off quicker. My individual goal this year is to excel enough on the offensive and defensive ends of the floor to help my team to an above 500 season.
“Our team goal is to have an above .500 season and make a run at the sweet 16.”
To get to that mark the Ipswich youth will have to step up and fill key roles.
“We are returning two starters, but we have some strong underclassmen coming up looking to fill those roles.”
At this point Northrop is being looked at as a college QB.
“I have been contacted by a coach from Presentation College for football,” Dylan said. “I have not planned any college visits and have not taken any.”
