Recruiting Report: Cord Brown (2018)
Salem 2018 6’6” power forward Cord Brown is a prospect that didn’t hardly play on varsity last year, but is primed to have a monster season for the Wildcats. Brown has taken a major leap in his game this spring and summer by getting in the gym and working on his individual game. He has long arms and a projectable frame. He plays with his back to the basket and can score with touch, quality footwork, and a nice right handed hook shot. Also working on his counter moves. Quick movements inside as soon as he touches the ball. Solid rebounder especially getting on the offensive glass. Runs the floor very well getting points in transition. Solid passer out of the high post. Potential on the defensive end of the floor with his shot blocking and post defense. Mobile enough to defend in a ball screen. Needs to continue to get stronger. A lot of sleeper potential here for a small college that is looking to get a post they can develop.
How is it going preparing for the upcoming season?
“It is going pretty well. I am looking forward to the season. It is going to be a great season for us.”
He talked about where he has seen the most growth in his game.
“I feel like I have gotten a lot better with my post moves and a lot stronger down there.”
What will his role be for a senior led Wildcats squad?
“I see me being a utility player that can to a little bit of everything. Get offensive rebounds and go to the rim.”
Millikin is the main school that is involved in his recruitment right now.
“It is a great school. They have a new coach and I think their program is really changing around and looking bright.”
What is he looking for in a program?
“A good coaching staff, good players, and a strong program.”
