Recruiting Report: Colin Crothers (2020)
Benet 6’8” big man Colin Crothers had a nice showing at the Pangos camp this fall. He showed some tools to work heading into his sophomore campaign. Plays physical on the block and got deep post position. Displays an overall good skill level including hitting threes on occasion and uses a nice looking right handed hook shot on the block. Country strong big man has good mobility, but lacks athleticism which can hurt him at times against length or bigger posts. Solid are rebounder.
Crothers made the top 30 game at the Pangos All-Midwest Frosh/Soph Camp.
“Overall it was really good competition. The team I was on we didn’t play selfishly. We knew if we wanted to do good in the camp we had to pass the ball and play as a team.”
He posted 30 points in one game on the first night of the camp.
“The ball was moving so much the guards kept finding me at the right places and I was able to finish it at a high percentage.”
In July he played with All-In Athletics stacked 15U group.
“It went really well. We had only two losses in July and went to the elite 8 in Vegas. It was a great team to play with.”
Crothers recently took a visit to Southern Illinois and left with his first offer.
“It was great. They ended up offering me at the end of the visit. That was my first offer. The visit was great and coach Clancy was amazing.”
What other schools are involved early?
“Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Purdue, and Northern Illinois have shown some interest.”
He has also taken unofficial visits to San Diego State and the University of San Diego in August.
