Recruiting Report: Brogan Brewer (2018)
Six-foot-4 Arlington wing Brogan Brewer was dealt a tough injury recently but he’s back to full strength and is ready to help his veteran team have a big year.
“This off-season I had surgery on my right shoulder (labrum) so I wasn’t able to play or do much working out,” Brewer explained to Prep Hoops. “I rehabbed the whole summer and am now back to 100 percent. Better than ever.”
Brewer has good size at the wing position and he wants to be a shooting weapon for a balanced team.
“My junior year was good. A lot of playing time and experience against top teams in the nation,” Brogan explained. “My focus on improvement from last year was being a more consistent shooter.
“I was sort of streaky last year but with more shot opportunities this year I’ll be more consistent and I’ve focused in on being a more consistent scorer.”
Arlington has Garrett Golday, Ray Price, Carrington Maclin, and Boston Miller back along with Brewer giving them an experienced group to plow through the 2017-18 campaign.
“Our starting five this year is all returning players,” Brewer said. “Four of the starters, myself included, are all seniors and our starting point guard is a junior. We expect a lot of wins this year. We have great chemistry and play good together. Our team goal is to win state.”
Having an injury during the 17u season can make it tough for colleges at all levels to see a player but Brogan has one program making regular contact and now that he is healthy others are likely to as well.
“My individual goal is to be the best player I can and end up getting a scholarship to play basketball in college,” Brogan stated.
“Rhodes College is the only school that has heavily talked to me on a consistent bases. Many D2 and D3 schools invited me to camps to attend over the summer but I was recovering from surgery and was unable to go.”
