Recruiting Report: Brock Lane (2018)
Top 100 senior Brock Lane of Strasburg, a 6-foot-4 forward, has taken one visit and has set another college visit. Prep Hoops talked to Lane today.
“I have visited Colorado School of Mines and I am planning on visiting South Dakota School of Mines,” Lane said.
At 6-foot-3, 180 pounds Lane averaged 15.4 points and 11.7 rebounds a game as a junior. With numbers like that Lane is one of the tougher players to slow but he’s worked to be even better as a senior.
“During the summer I played on the B & B Elite team,” Brock said. “I also played with my high school team as well. I also played on B & B’s fall team.
“One of the biggest focuses has been working on expanding my game out on the perimeter. This way I can be a threat on the outside as well on the inside, drawing the defense out. Another focus of mine is to become stronger down low even more so than last year.”
Strasburg made a quality run last year with Lane leading the way. With a good portion of their line-up back expectations also return.
“My junior year went great I averaged a double double during the season along with making it to the sweet 16,” Lane explained. “We have three returning varsity starters including myself, Jake Miller and Blake Swanson back.
“Our other returning varsity players have shown great improvement over our summer season.”
Lane hopes to hit the big win total once against and take another step in the playoffs.
“One of our team goals is to get 20 wins along making it to the elite eight,” Brock stated. “A couple of my personal goals are make all-state, average a double-double, and to average 20 points per game.”
Don’t bet against him and his teammates as the Strasburg Indians are coming off a 10-1 season that included many of the basketball players. Winning is on their side.
