Recruiting Report: Brady Albrecht (2018)
Six-foot-1, 180 pound wing Brady Albrecht of Parkston will shoulder a lot of responsibility for his team this winter and he’s ready for that role.
Albrecht is a three sport athlete that played linebacker and offensive line this fall and is now preparing for the basketball season
“My junior year was a lot of fun,” Albrecht said. “The previous group of seniors did a lot to help me and my other teammates out. To get ready for this year, together as a team we made use of open gym times and hosted a summer league for the surrounding area teams
“Of our top five scorers from last season, I am the only one who returns from last year. With that being said, the younger guys are going to have to step up. We have a talented sophomore class that will fill some voids and I expect them to play a big part throughout the season
“I think that once the first couple games are under our belt and the younger guys get some experience we will start to click.
Albrecht is the only returning starter so he will need to be a leader in a lot of ways. Brady is focused on making sure that he is vocal and that certain skills are improved.
“I think the thing that I’ve tried to improve the most on is my leadership skills,” Albrecht explained. “I know that it can’t just be me and as a team we need other people to step up, but one role that needs to be filled is a leadership role and I think that I can fill it.
“My personal goal for this season is to improve my free throw percentage. Throughout my career, free throws have been a struggle to say the least, but I’m happy to say it’s getting better.
“Team-wise, I think we have a good shot at making some noise come playoff time, so our team goal will be to do whatever needs to get done before playoffs roll around.”
Brady is a long ways away from thinking about what he wants to do in college. This is a young man that is playing three sports and finishing up high school so the day to day grind of responsibility is non-stop. Albrecht has met with coaches but isn’t sure quite yet what he wants to do.
“I’ve visited a few different campuses and have received information from different colleges about their athletic programs, but I have yet to sit down with a coach.”
