Prospect Watch: Emmette Page (2018)
Six-foot-1 Osseo guard Emmette Page is one of the Minnesota seniors who we believe can make a major step forward this winter.
“Emmette is set for a breakout year this upcoming season,” Osseo Coach Tim Theisen said. “He played major minutes last year as a junior and is looked on to increase his production. He was in clutch in a number of games last year including hitting a 40 foot game winning shot against Totino-Grace.
“Emmette is an outstanding three-point shooter and is an outstanding finisher at the rim for a guard. He will be asked to increase his defensively. If he does he is one of the most underrated players in the state.”
“My junior year went pretty good for me,” Page said. “I started out on JV, and I used that as motivation and played the first six games and averaged about 26 points per game and was moved up and finished the rest of the season playing as our sixth man on varsity.
“Most people locally really heard about me after I hit the game winner versus Totino-Grace. This offseason I played with the Minnesota Heat (Johnson 17u) and had a pretty good start but I ended up finishing the summer with Mpls FAB and I’ve been training at GameFaceTraining.”
With summer improvements and the potential to be an excellent guard Page has placed his focus on growing as a consistent player.
“My main focus has been to get better everyday and learn more about the game of basketball,” Page said. “My main focus has also been leadership and making my teammates around me better on the floor and building a good bond.”
Osseo will have one of the better backcourts in Minnesota that people aren’t thinking enough about. Guys like Page, Maurice Nelson, Zach Theisen, and young Cornell Richardson are all returning.
“We should look pretty good this year, the main focus is to take one game at a time and play every game hard as you can TOGETHER,” Page said. “I feel like we bring a little of everything we have people who hustle, plays defense, scoring, and rebounding. We expect nothing less.”
What are the goals for Emmette this year?
“First team all conference, make a run for Mr. Basketball, move up on my rankings,” Page said. “A team goal would be to make a run at a state title. I feel like we have the team to do so. Top 5 in state.”
Page has heard from a growing list of D3 schools so far.
