Prospect Watch: Casey Fowler (2018)
Casey Fowler will be an important piece for a ThunderRidge squad expecting to finish the 17-18 season on top.
To prepare for the year Fowler competed with the Chaos and had a personal trainer to help him in many areas.
“This off-season I had the opportunity to play for Colorado Chaos,” Fowler told Prep Hoops. “I have been working with Jamison Crowley he is a personal trainer that trains the ThunderRidge basketball program.
“He works on our stamina, conditioning, and strength. I have also been working with our shooting coach. Lastly I’ve been lifting throughout our strength program at ThunderRidge.”
The 6-foot-2, 185 pound Fowler, who is also a football player, is focused on being a senior leader and a more skilled finisher.
“Personally I’ve been trying to work on holding my teammates accountable and working on becoming a better leader for the younger guys,” Fowler said. “For my personal game, I’ve been working on my shot from mid range and beyond. Lastly I’ve been working on getting stronger and faster.”
The Grizzlies are set on having a big season and the talent is there for a great year. Fowler ran us through the talent on the roster ready to make an impact.
“At ThunderRidge we expect nothing less than greatness,” Casey explained. “We try our hardest to prove that day in and day out. We have seven seniors this year and a lot of talent dispersed.
“In addition we have three returning starters with three strong juniors. Our point guard Kaison Hammonds has the ability to be the best player on the floor anytime he wants. Bailey Verk is a big piece for us as well as Kevin Sax.
“Our three guard system is going to be strong this year with Kaison, Tyson and Justin. Like I said we have high hopes for this season but also understand it’s one game at time. There is a ton of talent in Colorado this year so we need to stay focused and control what we can control.”
A year ago ThunderRidge came up shorter than they expected to in their quest for a championship. The whole focus is four months of winning this winter.
“After last season we understand we have unfinished business. We are going to have to prove that every time we play. We want nothing less than to finish this season with a ring.
“That’s a long time away so we need to focus on becoming a better team each practice and each game. Focus on that, then focus on winning our league, then getting a first seed bye, then have a strong run once playoffs come around.
“We have the talent we just need to focus on one day at a time.”
