Prospect Spotlight: Victor Dupre (2020)
A top prospect in Louisiana’s 2020 class, 6-foot-1 shooting guard Victor Dupre already has a state championship to boast in his young high school career, and his future is very bright.
The Lafayette Christian Academy sophomore recently took some time to speak with PHLA, and he explained exactly what it is that makes him one of The Pelican State’s best young prospects.
“I have a good pull-up jumper, mid-range and I can shoot the 3 but I’d probably shoot the pull-up first,” said Dupre. “I can get to the hole and I can dribble and handle pressure good. I like to rebound a lot, and I pass good on fast breaks.”
He spent his offseason playing up with the older guys on South Louisiana Select 16U, and says it was a great experience playing that group.
“We had a good year, and went to tournaments in Houston and Alabama, and played in a couple local tournaments. My role was definitely to score a lot every game, and rebound a lot,” said Dupre.
“I’m definitely happy with the way I played, and I found some things I need to work on, too.”
Last season as a freshman, Dupre came off the bench for a state title team. This season, his role will increase as he tries to lead the Knights to consecutive titles.
“I’m probably going to have to produce more on the offensive side, and score a little bit more since we lost some seniors from last year,” said Dupre.
“My expectations are to contribute to the team in a positive way, and to get us to play together and win another state championship.”
