Prospect Spotlight: Trae Starks (2019)
Starting basketball at age 12, Trae Starks moved from JV ball as a freshman to varsity midway through his sophomore year.
Previously at Zephyrhills, he called it a learning curve. The 5’10”, 165-pounder made the switch to Hudson this summer.
“The thing I learned most from the experience was what it took on a day in and day out basis to win a district championship,” Starks told Prep Hoops Florida. “The part of my game that grew the most was my overall leadership abilities and my basketball IQ.”
Starks plans to be a leader, facilitator and a high energy defender for his new team.
“Whatever I need to do to make sure that we accomplish our goals for this year,” he said.
He took the summer off from travel ball to focus on his individual skillset.
Starks called his biggest strengths his motor, defense and ball handling. He wants to improve his outside jump shot and his overall strength.
Hudson has been a fine squad for the last few years and now Starks will add another dimension out of the back court. He’s a speedy player who plays a relentless style of basketball. Look for Starks to fit in nicely for the Cobras.
