Prospect Spotlight: Thabit Gault (2018)
Thabit Gault – 6’6” | F | Team Focus 2018 – Kerner | Mississinewa High School
Thabit Gault is a strong bodied forward that can create space around the basket and finish with either hand around the rim. He played his final AAU season with Team Focus 2018 and will be playing his senior year at Mississinewa High School this year. Gault has started to show more consistency which has translated to bigger impacts on both ends of the floor.
“Workouts have been good. I feel like I’m in the best shape I’ve even been in.” Gault has placed high priority in getting his body ready for the upcoming season and competing on both ends of the floor. He is a high energy forward that likes to mix it up on the inside.
As he gets conditioned for his senior season, he’s also been working on his game away from the basket. “I’ve worked a lot on conditioning, getting my body in better shape. I’m working on shooting from the mid-range and the perimeter.” Thabit has been adding the long ball to his offensive arsenal to stretch the floor on offense. If he can consistently knock down the mid-range jumper this year, he will be a tough matchup for almost every team on their schedule.
Thabit had a solid summer playing with Team Focus and it challenged him to step out of his comfort zone. He is good with his body positioning under the basket and can clear space on both backboards. He has a soft touch around the basket with either hands and good strong hands to catch tough passes and gather rebounds.
“I work hard every time I’m in the gym and I hate leaving feeling like I didn’t get better in some way.”
Gault has been contacted here recently from a few programs but is looking to expand his opportunities throughout the year. He is wanting to go into the business field and wants to get out on visits here in the near future. Thabit is looking to have an immediate impact wherever he lands and wants to do what it takes to help his team win.
Thabit Gault is looking to surprise some people this season with his expanding offensive game and impact on both backboards. Keep an eye on the competitive Mississinewa prospect throughout the 2017-2018 season.
