Prospect Spotlight: Tanner Albright (2019)
Currently the 39th-ranked 2019 in Kansas, 6-foot guard Tanner Albright heads into his junior season ready to reach new levels of success.
The Kingman prospect has posted nice individual numbers his first two seasons of high school ball, but is eager to see some more team success this winter.
His individual prowess, however, has led to some initial small school recruitment.
“I’ve received mail from University of Chicago, and there’s a small school here called McPherson, and their coach is interested in looking at me. I went up to a couple of their games and their coach said he might come down and watch me this year,” said Albright.
“My main focus right now is on my high school team, but of course, I’m looking to go play in college somewhere. I want to go somewhere that has my major, but I for sure want to go somewhere that wants me.”
A quick guard who can get into the lane seemingly at will, Albright defined his skill-set in his own words to PHKS.
“One of my biggest strengths is driving, a lot of coaches have told me that I’m one of the quicker guards in the league off the dribble. I don’t try and do anything too fancy, I’m just quick and I get around defenders,” said Albright.
“I shoot a lot of outside shots and I’ll drive when I can. And what I’m looking to do this season is get my assists up.”
One way that Albright prepared for his junior hoops season was to join the cross country team this fall. And with his conditioning intact, he officially started hoops practice earlier this week.
“One goal of mine this season is to lead my team to state. We haven’t had a lot of success in the past because we’ve been so young,” said Albright. “But that’s my main goal, is to lead us to state.”
