Prospect Spotlight: Jalen Brown (2021)
Last season marked the first time since 2010 that Academy at the Lakes had a losing record.
The Wildcats finished 6-17 overall in Class 3A-District 6.
2021 guard Jalen Brown is a freshman who will be in the mix this season for Academy at the Lakes. He says his role will be major and he’s excited to gain the varsity experience alongside his friends while playing the game he loves.
“For my 8th grade season, I don’t think I did enough for the team,” Brown told Prep Hoops Florida. “I learned that playing in 8th grade will help me a lot because Experience is the best teacher when it comes to playing basketball.”
Brown has played for the travel team, the Demons for the past four years. He says he was able to improve his game a bit this summer while attending several camps.
Starting his basketball life at age 3, he pointed to his ability to get to the basket, passing and overall defenses as his biggest strengths.
Brown is aiming to improve his shot, scoring ability and developing that killer instinct.
At 6’0″, 170 lbs., Brown is not the normal looking freshman. He is going to have the ball in his hands a ton this season. Expect some growing pains, but also don’t be shocked to see Brown perform very well for the young Wildcats bunch.
