Prospect Spotlight: Demetrick Coney (2018)
Guard Demetrick Coney will play for Arlington Country Day for a post-grad season this fall.
The 6’2″, 160-pounder was at Wayne County High School in Jesup, Ga. a year ago. He had to sit out due to eligibility rules, but he spent the entire off-season working on his craft and study the game.
Coney says he feels better than ever and more confident.
“My goal this fall is to make my post-grad team here at Arlington Country Day better and take them far as possible,” he told Prep Hoops Florida.
Coney spent the summer with the GWP Sixers in South Carolina, a program he’s been with since 9th grade. Basketball started for him started with the Sixers but he’s played other sports his entire life.
He pointed to his defense and ability to get where he wants on the floor as his biggest strengths. Coney wants to improve his shot and overall muscle.
No offers have come yet for Coney, but the tough-minded guard will get his chance for Arlington Country Day. Proving yourself is what post-grad is about and Coney has a chip on his shoulder after sitting out his entire senior year in Georgia.
