Prospect Spotlight: Bryce Coppock (2020)
A proven elite scorer, Newell-Fonda guard Bryce Coppock was sensational last season as a freshman, and spent his spring and summer carving up defenses with Tryon Gym 15U.
The 5-foot-9 sophomore guard can get red-hot from deep, and has an uncanny ability to get to the rim and finish.
“I feel like I’m a pretty well-rounded offensive player, and I have a strong driving game and a strong outside shot,” said Coppock.
“I need to work on finishing in my mid range game and being strong driving to my left, those are two points I’ve really been focusing on.”
After averaging 16.3 points during his freshman season with the Mustangs, Coppock took a full head of steam into his 15U season with Tryon Gym.
“Tryon Gym is a really good group and I had a lot of fun with them. I just worked on all parts of my game this summer, just working to be a better, well-rounded player,” said Coppock.
And with just one player graduating from the Mustangs’ 10-win team last season, Coppock says his role as a sophomore will be much the same as a season ago — to score in bunches.
“I don’t think my role will change a ton, we have most of our same team coming back; we only lost one senior. And for the team, we have high expectations for ourselves. We worked really hard in the offseason — everyone is really excited,” said Coppock.
“And for me personally, I’ve just been working hard, and we’ll see where it takes me.”
