Prospect Spotlight: Brendon Redford (2019)
Utah’s 43rd-ranked 2019, Brendon Redford is a 6-foot-4 wing with a ton of upside, and he’ll be a guy that can do it all at Davis this winter,
He says it’s athleticism that separates him from the pack, and nabbing rebounds from the wing spot has certainly been a strength of his during the early part of the season.
“I’m a lot more athletic than most of the guys I play against, and I’m really good with that first step. I like to crash the boards hard. And I feel like I’m capable of making the right pass and finding my guys for assists,” said Redford.
“I need to work on my shooting and my confidence shooting the ball. And I want to work on creating my own shot more.”
It’s his second season starting with the Darts, and according to Redford, big things are coming.
“This year is going to be a big year, I know it. We have a lot of good guys, so I feel like we’re going to make some noise,” said Redford.
“My role is going to be to score, rebound, just do it all, mostly. I’ve got to make sure that my teammates are getting the ball. And just be a leader.”
During the offseasons, Redford plays with West Elite, and after his 16U season with the program, he says his recruitment started up, if only just a bit.
“”I’ve gotten letters here and there and I’ve talked to some coaches, but I’m not sure how interested they really are,” said Redford.
“I know Weber State has talked to my coach about me, Utah State, and then Southern Utah.”
He added: “I’m hoping this year, or at least this summer, I’ll have a solid offer from any school. I just want to ensure my future. I’m really hoping for a D1 offer, that’s my goal.”
