Prospect Spotlight: Abdou Tsimbila (2019)
Abdou Tsimbila, a class of 2019 forward at St. Maria Goretti, has been an integral part of his team’s solid start to the season. The 6-foot-7, 220 pound big man brings an added dimension to the Gaels front court, and his impact has been evident on both ends of the floor.
“I just play as I usually play with more motivation,” Tsimbila said of his overall game. “
A native of Cameroon, Tsimbila says he arrived in the US on January 16th, which is when he began playing organized basketball. He played AAU this summer with New World 16U.
“I learned a lot of things like gaining self-confidence,” he said of his experience. “My personal objective is working every day and being able to improve myself.”
Tsimibla has a long way to go, as most players his size do at this stage. His upside is promising, and his production has been impressive. Tsimbila should gain valauble experience during a schedule featuring some very competitive games this season, and his recruitment should expand in the spring and summer. What can he bring to a college program?
“I think I can bring a lot on defense and offense.”
