Propsect Introduction: Javaris Rolle (2021)
Westminster Academy just keeps grooming athletes.
The Lions won the Class 4A title last season behind a 29-4 record. Senior Paul Atkinson led the team down low and he’s now at Yale. 2018 guard Zach Scott, 2019 guards Chase Johnston and Samuel Griffin, 2020 forward Dudley Blackwell and 2019 center Anthony Atkinson (Paul’s younger brother) are the leaders for Westminster.
One up and coming player that needs to be known about is 6’3″, 188-pound guard Javaris Rolle. The 2021 athlete played on the 9th grade team as an 8th grader. He says he’s excited to be on the varsity squad and compete for a state championship.
“This past season was great. I got to showcase my talent against older kids and playing up also got me ready for the national camps I attended this summer, such as CPS, FabFrosh, Best of The Best, D-rich TV, etc.,” Rolle told Prep Hoops Florida. “It got me mentally tougher and prepared me for high school ball.”
He says his role will be to serve as a good teammate and player who can simply help his team win games.
Just like Blackwell a year ago, the Lions are maturing young athletes and Rolle seems to be on his way up.
He spent the summer with Team Knight where he says he gained some national exposure. Rolle has no offers yet, but he’s drawn interest from Nova Southeastern already.
Starting his basketball life at age 5, Rolle called his attack and finish at the basket his biggest strengths. He’s aiming to improve his stop and pull up jumper.
Westminster is a top-notch program and Rolle will get his chances to showcase his game as an energy player off the bench. The younger Atkinson, Anthony will try his best to replace Paul’s production down low while Scott, Johnston and Griffin carry the brunt of the load.
