KJ JenkinsThis past weekend, the remaining GHSA schools kicked off their 2017-18 hoops campaign with the Creekview Grizzly’s being one of those teams. The class 6A school out of Canton, Georgia began their schedule with a home matchup against the North Forsyth Raiders. It was a good start to the season as they came away victorious, but it was the play of their senior combo guard KJ Jenkins that ultimately made the difference in the 70-50 win. Jenkins is a 6’0” prospect with amazing quickness and shot making ability. In the first game of the season for the Creekview Grizzly’s, he scored the first 13 points for Creekview, showcasing his ability on all three levels in the first 8 minutes. Jenkins has a smooth mid-range pull-up jumper, a quick first step off the bounce, and was knockdown on several three point opportunities. Jenkins flew around the court in Creekside’s 1-2-1-1 zone press and quickly turned steals into easy conversions on the offensive end. Jenkins, while scoring a game high 29 points in the contest, was not hesitant to get others involved as well; making nice passes in the half-court and was on the giving end of an impressive alley-oop to teammate James Wall in the second half. Ranked in the top 15 overall for Georgia’s 2018 class by many, Jenkins currently holds offers from Navy, Columbus State, and North Georgia and should see that list increase by season’s end.
