Palmetto State : Region 3-A Predictions
Region 3-A is located in the western part of the state between Orangeburg and Aiken. This area has some players that could really be some sleepers in the years to come. Prep Hoops SC takes a look at Region 3-A in this article.
Region 3-A Preseason Team (7 players)
Tyson Bettis (2018) Ridge Spring-Monetta (Monetta)
Bettis 6’1 has really gotten better over the past year for the Trojans. Bettis currently has the the Trojans in a the football playoffs. Bettis a tough minded kid isn’t afraid to take a charge on the floor. Bettis played back earlier this fall in the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach.
Desmond Murray (2019) Williston-Elko HS (Wiiliston)
Murray is a tweener on the floor playing as a combo forward. Murray runs the floor very well and rebounds on both ends for the Blue Devils. Look for Murray to have a big season and improve on his numbers this season. Murray ran with Aiken Select last summer.
Marlow Gilmore (2019) Hunter-Kinard-Tyler HS (Neeses) (pictured on front)
Gilmore is the best player in Region 3-A and is just a JUNIOR. Gilmore averaged 20 ppg and 11.5 rebounds last season for the Trojans, Gilmore needs to be a half-time entertainment with some of the acrobatics he uses on the floor.
Gilmore a Top 25 player in the Palmetto 2019 Class is left-handed forward who has the ability to play above the rim. Gilmore is the Preseason Player of the Year in this region hands down.
Harold Johnson (2020) Denmark-Olar (Denmark)
Johnson has seen action on the varsity level for the past few years for the Vikings. Johnson a left-handed guard sees the floor well and has the ability to hit open shots. Johnson ran AAU with Central Carolina Force this past summer.
Adonis Davis (2021) Blackville-Hilda HS (Blackville)
Davis is a name you will hear about for the next 4 seasons here for the Hawks. Davis has already played a few years of varsity basketball and he is just entering the 9th grade this season. Davis a left-handed guard gets after it on the floor and never leaves anything to doubt. Davis shows a great work ethic and a prize winning smile every time you see this young man play.
Davis played at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo back in September
Sleeper in the Region : Quan Frazier (2018) Wagener-Salley HS
Frazier is a jet quick point guard for the War Eagles. Frazier also shows his talents on the gridiron by playing multiple positions.
Keshawn Toney is a beast in the paint and on the football field. Toney 6’3 a TE has received strong football interest from Georgia State, Georgia Tech and others. Toney and Murray will team up for a tough match-up in the paint.
The best players in this region are all underclassmen. Region 3-A has plenty of talent to offer over the next few years.
Projection Order of Finish : Hunter-Kinard-Tyler HS, Williston-Elko HS, Ridge Spring-Monetta HS, Wagener-Salley HS, Blackville-Hilda HS, Denmark-Olar HS, Estill HS and North HS.
