Palmetto State : Region 2-A Predictions
Region 2-A this season looks like it will be the Lewisville HS Lions and the rest of the of the teams playing for 2nd place. Lewisville HS lost season in the Class A State Championship Game to Hemingway HS 72-71. The Lions will be the preseason favorites to win Region 2-A this season. Here is a look at some of the top players in this region for the up and coming season.
Mikial Fourney (2018) – Lewisville HS (Richburg) (pictured on front)
Fourney is back for the Lions after after averaging 12.3 ppg and 7.4 rebounds last season. Fourney a left-handed off guard plays wide receiver/free safety on the football field. Fourney has started every football game since his freshman season. Fourney has received interest from Liberty University for football.
Fourney has really good length and long arms. Fourney played AAU with Upward Stars – York County.
Fourney is the Prep Hoops Preseason Player of the Year in Region 2-A.
Rasheim Lyde (2019) – Timmonsville HS
Lyde just got back on the football field after recently getting eligible for the Whirlwinds. Lyde stuffed the stat sheet last season for Head Coach Gerald Wright. Lyde averaged 15 ppg, 9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.6 steals.
Jadakiss Talford (2018) – Lewisville HS (Richburg)
Talford comes back after scoring 14 points in the state championship game last season. Talford 6’2 averaged 10 ppg last season for the Lions. Talford really gets after it on the defensive end of the floor.
Demetric Hardin (2020) – Lewisville HS (Richburg)
Hardin is just a sophomore on the floor for the Lions and saw plenty of action last season on there run to the State Championship Game. Hardin came up big last season in the Upper State Championship Game vs Williston-Elko in which he scored 20 points.
Hardin could be the Sleeper of the Year in this Region this season.
Kelton Talford (2020) – Great Falls HS
Talford is the future for the Red Devils. Talfod saw plenty of action last season in which he averaged 9.8 ppg. Talford a slender combo forward played AAU with the Carolina Pressure this past summer.
Newcomer of the Year : Devon Busby (2018) – Lewisville HS (Richburg)
Busby will bring some senior leadership to the Lions after transferring in from nearby Rock Hill HS.
Shane Hammonds (2018) – McBee HS
Hammonds is a 3-sport athlete for the Panthers. Hammonds averaged 11.3 ppg last season. Hammonds played back in the fall at the Prep Hoops 250 Expo in Myrtle Beach. Hammonds a strong student in the classroom also plays second base on the baseball team.
Projected Order of Finish : Lewisville HS, Timmonsville HS, Great Falls HS, McBee HS, Lamar HS and Governor’s School.
