Palmetto State : Recruiting News and Notes
The season is starting here in the Palmetto State and plenty of action is going on. Here are some tidbits we have gathered this week from around the state.
Brandon Pirie has committed to play at Francis Marion University next season. Pirie a guard at Cardinal Newman played AAU this summer with the South Carolina Kings. Pirie best suited off the ball as a 3 point shooter is ranked #108 in the 2018 Palmetto State Class.
Pirie will join West Florence HS player Juan Perez at the NCAA D2 School next fall. Perez didn’t join his teammates yesterday at the Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree as he was held out with injury according to the the coaching staff.
Patrick Reedy 6’7 (238) plans to walk-on next season at the University of South Carolina. Reedy a tight end at Cardinal Newman plays on the Cardinals basketball team. Reedy just started playing football as junior in high school. Reedy had 57 receptions – 1,068 yards and 10 touchdowns this season.
The Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree held in rural Georgetown County out in the Choppee Community is a great fundraiser for the Bears. Head Basketball Coach Jeff Mezzatesta is truly a great ambassador to this school and community. The heart and pride he puts into the 3 day event is just top notch.
I personally attend Carvers Bay HS on a average 3-4 times a year being roughly 35 miles away from home to cover region games or summer camps here. Just want to say thanks to Coach Mezz and everybody at Carvers Bay HS for a fine job well done.
The SCBCA (South Carolina Basketball Coaches Association) put out there Preseason Teams yesterday in Columbia and Prep Hoops SC was on hand for all the action. Prep Hoops SC will talk about the players and some more players to look at in each class this coming week.
