NCBCA Coaches vs Cancer Shootout Standouts
The North Carolina Basketball Coaches Association hosted the Coaches vs Cancer Shootout at UNC-Asheville on Saturday November 25th featuring teams from North Carolina who have had a person in their school family affected by cancer.
Josh Searcy-The 6-foot-5 wing from East Rutherford High School was impressive during their game against Triton High School. He is long and athletic, knows where to put the ball on the break, does a really good job of rebounding the ball and uses his frame and size to his advantage. Searcy scored 8 points, grabbed 5 rebounds, had one assists and one block in the first 8 minutes of the game. He does a lot of everything really well. Head Coach Brad Levine has another solid team at East Rutherford, not big but physical and athletic. Will always be in the talk when the playoffs come around. Levine won a state title in 2011.
Christian Walker-The 6-foot-4 Walker, doesn’t pass the eye test but he gets the job done on the inside for The Cavaliers. He isn’t flashy, will not wow you but he is skilled and efficient. Scored 12 points in the first half on a variety of baskets. He is a good rebounder and was named MVP for East Rutherford in their game against Triton High School.
Jalin Thorne-6’8, 2018 big man Jalin Thorne is a skilled post player in the senior class for Westover HS. Soft touch around the rim & doesn’t force anything. Showed ability to make mid-range shots and handle the ball on the wing. He gets good position inside, and uses his size well. Westover bigs are skilled and Head Coach Stackhouse was assistant at ECU in charge of bigs development in the early 2000’s. His teams play hard and are aggressive.
