Mr. Basketball Candidate: Kendle Moore
In this series we take a look at the potential candidates for Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois for this upcoming season. Here we profile Danville 2018 point guard Kendle Moore.
Profile:
Moore is one of the top 10 prospects in the senior class in Illinois and the #3 point guard heading into his senior campaign. He is a fast and quick guard with a wiry frame. More of a scoring lead guard that can get to the basket off the bounce and in transition. Also has made major strides in his jump shot. Defensively he is a pest at the point of attack and gets after opposing point guards. Coming off a strong spring/summer with Team Rose.
Odds to Win:
20/1
Why He Can Win:
Danville will be one of the best teams in central Illinois this season and Moore will be a significant reason why. He will have an array of shooters and defenders around him to compliment his game. Moore will have the opportunity to make a major impression on voters beyond central Illinois at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament. Last year he exploded for a huge game against Curie in an upset of the state’s top team. If he can lead his team to a title there it could boost him up the board in the race for Mr. Basketball.
Obstacles to Win:
Beyond Pontiac he won’t have a lot of opportunities to impress outside of the central Illinois region. Moore might make his biggest statement in the state tournament, but that might be too late for voters who will have made up their minds by then.
