Mr. Basketball Candidate: Francis Okoro
In this series we take a look at the potential candidates for Mr. Basketball in the state of Illinois for this upcoming season. Here we profile Normal West 2019 center Francis Okoro.
Profile:
Okoro is a physical specimen at the center position. He is 6’9” and blessed with a strong and athletic frame. The Normal West big man has the ability to be dominant on both ends of the floor. He is an outstanding athlete that runs the floor finishing with power. Improving post game and can even step out a little. Elite rebounder and shot blocker on the high school level. The #1 ranked prospect in the 2019 class in Illinois.
Odds to Win:
25/1
Why He Can Win:
There is absolutely no player in the state of Illinois that can physically match up with Okoro. He is a man among boys out there on the high school level. He should be able to post double doubles every single night! He will be the most dominant player in central Illinois without question.
Obstacles to Win:
As we have mentioned before it is difficult for juniors to win this award unless they are an absolutely transcendent player. He plays at a high school that isn’t known as a traditional powerhouse and Okoro lost several of his running mates to transfers. Opponents are going to send triple teams at him all the time. Normal West will be in a few showcase events, but not many.
