Meet The Player: Jaemyn Brakefield
We got our chance to get a close look at Huntington Prep 2020 Wing Jaemyn Brakefield at the Hoops & Dreams Showcase a few weeks back. He clearly showed why he should be in the mix with some of the other top 2020 prospects in the country as he is a huge part of Huntington Prep success and has all the tools to be special. At 6’9 with a guard skillset and a high IQ for the game, you can see why some of the top programs in the country are already reaching out, we got a chance to talk with Jaemyn after their win on Friday night.
Q: This is the first time that The Hoops & Dreams Showcase has been put together, how was your experience with it?
Jaemyn: It was good, a really good atmosphere, I feel like it’s like most of the tournaments that we go to so it’s a good one.
Q: How long have you been at Huntington Prep?
Jaemyn: This is my second year there I’m a sophomore
Q: How has the experience been playing for HP with such a tough schedule?
Jaeymn: It’s a big schedule with a lot of competition, you got to hold up to it.
Q: You guys had a bigtime leads against WOG and then they kindve came back, what’s something you can learn from today’s game and apply it to the rest of the season?
Jaemyn: For me I could talk more and do a better job of leading my team, as a whole we can rebound the ball better as a team.
Q: Recruitment wise how have things been going for you?
Jaemyn: A lot of schools having been showing interest, as of right now I have offers from: Baylor, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss and Houston and I’ve been to Midnight Madness over at Kentucky.
Q: If there was a player in college or NBA that you would say your game is similar to or you try and mimic things from their game, who would it be?
Jaemyn: Right now I’m trying to get my game as close to Kawhi Leonard, especially with the way he plays defense.
