Lima Senior Mega Scrimmage
LIMA SENIOR 15 TEAM MEGA SCRIMMAGE
Although we’re only 1 week into the high school boys’ basketball season and there are still a few schools out there with their athletes participating in football, we were still able to get a good look at a few powerhouse teams from across the state of Ohio. There were 15 teams at the mega scrimmage, 14 of which were from Ohio including: Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s, Pickerington Central, Trotwood Madison, Shaker Heights, Dayton Dunbar, Princeton, Cincinnati Hughes, Cornerstone Christian, Maumee Valley Country Day, Toledo Rogers, Toledo Start, Wapakoneta, Vandalia Butler and the host school Lima Senior. The only team NOT from Ohio was Detroit East English Village Prep.
The point guards were really good today. Their ability to get separation, create shots for themselves/teammates while being excellent floor generals was prettyimpressive. Just a few of the point guards that played today are:
-
Jeremiah Francis
Jeremiah Francis ’19 (Pickerington Central- N. Carolina)
- David DeJulius ’18 (Detroit East English Village Prep- Michigan)
- Zeb Jackson ’20 (Maumee Valley Country Day)
- Seth Wilson ’21 (Akron St. Vincent St. Mary’s)
- Giovanni Santiago ’18 (Cincinnati Hughes)
There were also a few wings that stood out because of their ability
to stretch the floor, finish in transition and create shots for themselves.
- Darius Bazley ’18 (Princeton- Syracuse)
- Christian Guess ’18 (Shaker Heights)
- Myles Belyeu ’19 (Trotwood-Madison)
How did the teams look?
- Wapakoneta and Pickerington Central finished the day 4-0. Both teams ran pretty good sets and scored
- Cincinnati Hughes did a great job getting the ball down the court quickly, even on makes they’re coming at you and they got a lot of easy baskets today in transition. They’ll be one of the favorites to win the Cincinnati Metro Athletic Conference.
- Shaker Heights picked up full court man to man and gave a lot of teams problems with their pressure and length.
- Princeton played tough and had a chip on their shoulder. Their matchup vs. Detroit East English Village Prep was one of the best games to watch all day. Both teams played aggressive and with a ton of emotion.
- Cornerstone Christian is big and athletic. They should make a deep tournament run in division 4.
