Kansas’ top shooters (2019, 2020)
Top shooters (2019, 2020)
Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the state’s premier shooters in the junior and sophomore classes.
Spencer Blain, 5’11, PG, 2020, Blue Valley West
Blain is a strong point guard who does a good job handling the ball and is a talented all-around scorer. He can get to the bucket and excels knocking down tough mid-range shots. But he is also among the better 3-point shooters in the KC area and is coming off a strong summer competing for MoKan Elite’s 15U squad.
Christian Braun, 6’4, SG, 2019, Blue Valley Northwest
One of the top prospects in the 2019 class, Braun is a smooth perimeter shooter who has an improving all-around game. He has good size and combines that with terrific form and balance. He will be taking on a much bigger role in the Huskies’ line-up this season after largely playing behind a talented senior class as a sophomore.
Cevin Clark, 5’11, PG, 2019, Arkansas City
One of the state’s top scoring guards a year ago, Clark averaged 20 points and nailed 56 3-pointers in 21 games, shooting 41 percent from the field. He put together a strong season during the spring and summer competing for Kansas Select.
Johnny Murdock, 6’0, SG, 2019, Wichita Southeast
The son of former Missouri State standout by the same name, Murdock helped Southeast space the floor a year ago for Israel Barnes and others to operate. He is a talented scorer, but his main calling card is his perimeter shooting.
Joe Rost, 6’5, SF, 2019, St. Thomas Aquinas
A long, rangy forward, Rost is a coaches son who was one of the few underclassmen to get significant playing time a year ago for a talented Aquinas team. He combines good size with a smooth outside shooting stroke. He will be counted on for a big season as the program looks to replace several talented players lost to graduation.
Riley Sides, 6’0, G, 2019, Northern Valley (Almena)
Sides put together one of the better seasons in Class 1A basketball last year leading the Huskies to an 18-4 record.. A 6’0 guard, Sides averaged nearly 19 points per game a year ago and connected on 78 3-pointers in 21 games while shooting 44 percent from distance. He also averaged nearly five rebounds and five assists per game.
Jordan White, 6’1, PG, 2019, Washburn Rural
One of the better young guards in Kansas, White is coming off a strong season for Washburn Rural where he was among the team’s leaders. He is a strong guard with terrific leadership skills, can get to the basket and shoot from the perimeter.
