Heritage vs Holly Springs: Top Standouts
It’s no secret that Heritage High School is a top tier team in the state of North Carolina. On the road in their season opener, they were able to topple a solid Holly Springs team that has several good pieces of their own. Read about a few of the top standouts that caught my eye below.
Jayden Gardner – Heritage HS – 6’7” Forward | 2018| East Carolina University*
Gardner is a man amongst boys inside. His motor combined with his size & quickness will continue to overwhelm the majority of his opponents all season long. Finished with 31 points & 16 rebounds, mainly outworking everyone on both ends of the floor in the paint.
Jarren McAllister – Heritage HS – 6’3” Guard | 2018 | Virginia Tech*
Outstanding athlete. McAllister was able to create off the dribble and get his shot at any time. Has a really nice looking pull up jump-shot and extremely long arms. Has the potential to surprise a lot of people down the line in college as a two-way player.
Kadin Shedrick – Holly Springs HS – 6’10” Power Forward | 2019
Freakishly long and deceptive athlete. Has improved tremendously over the past year and can really run the floor. Despite battling foul trouble, made an impact on both sides with quick moves offensively and altering several shots defensively. Big year could be ahead. Has all the tools to become a highly coveted big man.
Erik Alvey – Holly Springs HS – 6’4” Guard | 2018
Underrated. Alvey surprised me with his ability to handle the ball, see the floor, defend and create shots for himself. At 6’4”, this senior has great size for the shooting guard position and could definitely bring a ton of versatility to a college program sooner than later.
Redford Dunton – Heritage HS – 6’5” Guard | 2021
Easily one of the top freshmen in the state. Dunton has great size at the shooting guard position already, standing 6’5” and plays very well within the flow of an offense. He makes shots from spots all over the floor and is a great athlete in the open court. Could develop into a high level prospect once his body really begins to mature.
Demarcus Elliot – Holly Springs HS – 6’0” Point Guard | 2020
Very crafty lefty lead guard. Elliot gets to his spots on the floor with minimal issues. Keeps defenders honest with his jumpshot and has the ball on a string. Made several tough passes inside look rather easy. Also showed great athleticism for a guard his size, catching a lob and finishing it over a defender plus the foul. Remember the name.
Dow Dunton – Heritage HS – 6’7” Forward | 2018
This kid was a menace on the glass against Holly Springs. One of those players that every coach wants on their team. He didn’t force anything outside of his comfort zone and stuck to his strengths (rebounding, making the extra pass, communicating). A true glue guy that will be a huge part of the success Heritage could have.
