Breakdown: This week is a different one as you have two aspects that impact the schedule. You have Thanksgiving that takes out a lot of games, especially with no games on Thursday. You also have the State Playoffs for football which make a lot of games get moved. It affected two big games this week already. As for the games that are actually on the schedule, Monday is a light day but Andrean vs. Lake Central should be a good matchup. Andrean is very young, but also very talented. Lake Central is a little older and should provide a solid gauge for just how good this young Andrean core could be this year.
On Tuesday, you have Carmel vs. Zionsville. Both teams are looking really good this year on paper with Carmel being the perennial favorite. However, this might be the best team that Zionsville has had in some time. If Zionsville is really going to be that good, this is a game that should be extremely competitive in and possibly win.
For Wednesday, Homestead vs. Huntington North is a fun matchup. Homestead is nearly a brand new team with loads of younger players coming in. Huntington North should be one of the better shooting teams this year with a pair of bigs being able to really stretch the floor. A Hank Pulver/Sawyer Stoltz combo is going to be a very difficult matchup for teams this year.
On Friday, Gary 21st makes their way down to Indianapolis to take on Broad Ripple. 21st could be among the best teams in 1A and in the northern half of the state. They have the pieces to be dominant on the perimeter but Broad Ripple can matchup with them pretty well. They have size and shooting ability. Game could go either way and should put up a ton of points.
For the end of the week, Saturday brings us Lapel vs. Frankton. These are two teams that play each other every year and are in the same Sectional. This also brings us the last two 2A State Championship teams. Each have a ton of players coming back and both are among the top 2A teams again this year. Always a fun environment and it shouldn’t disappoint.
