Cobb County (GA) POY Nominees Part 1
2018 C EJ Montgomery – Wheeler High School
EJ Montgomery is arguably the best big man in the state of Georgia. EJ will have a big senior year this season with the Wheeler Wildcats. Montgomery is a long lenghty versatile big man who can rebound better than anyone on the court. He can also be a great shot blocker. With his long arms it is very difficult for teams to finish around the basket with EJ in the paint. EJ recently decommited from Auburn University, so his recruitment will major as the season goes along.
2018 CG Joshua Strong – Kennesaw Mountain High School
Joshua Strong is a score first combo guard. After making his all region team last season and leading his team to the state playoffs, Strong is looking forward to his senior year. Joshua had a great run this summer with SEBA Select. He has some big help this year from 2019 WG/F Jalyn McCreary and 2019 PG Khalil Shaheed.
2018 WG Brandon Younger – Wheeler High School
Brandon Younger had a tremondous summer on the Adidas circuit with Game Elite. Younger racked up a bunch of offers in the past few months. This season Brandon will be asked to a lot more than last season and is definitely one of the leaders of this Wheeler Wildcat team. He is a 6’7 shooting guard and/or wing who can score and defend pretty well.
2020 PG Sharife Cooper – McEachern High School
Sharife Cooper is one of the best pure point guards in the nation. Arguable the best point guard in the peach state right now. Sharife is a 5’10 point guard who can facilitate and create plays for others. Cooper has offers from Auburn, Florida, Texas A&M, and more. Sharife is no doubt a preseason Cobb POY Nominee after an outstanding freshman year.
2018 Jahwan Smith – Kell High School
When we talk about small guards with big hearts, Jahwan Smith comes in that category. Smith will be one of the main leaders for this season’s Kell Longhorns, who went 21-8 last year. Smith has the quickness and handles to create plays for his teammates. He can also hit the mid range shot and get to the rack.
2018 WG Tobi Adeyeye – Allatoona High School
Coach Hood and the Buccaneers staff expects a lot this season from this young man. Tobi is a tremondous athlete and has great length at 6’6. With the departure of former 2018 PG Trey Doomes, Adeyeye will be the leader of this year’s squad.
2018 PG Jason McKie – Walton High School
Jason McKie is another kid that is small in size but has a big heart on the court. McKie has Isaiah Thomas like skills. Jason has been on the varsity squad his whole high school career. With the help of Jordan Kreuger, Walton should be a region threat to the Etowah Eagles, the defending region 4 7A champs.
