Clarksville Rossview Season Preview
Last year Clarksville Rossview High School underperformed at 14-13, but a few current seniors hope to overperform this campaign.
Clarksville Rossview boasts a surefire star in Will Midlick (Delta State verbal). Midlick’s scoring acumen is simply special, but RHS needs even more. Where will the complimentary scoring come from?
Austin Jackson gives Rossview another slick shooter. The lefty is solid knocking down outside shots off the catch or off the dribble. He shows off a high release point and doesn’t cower from nearby defenders.
Jackson pairs well with Midlick and both should average double-figures.
Kole Monson and Isaiah Phillips will fight for backcourt minutes, one of which will start. Both Phillips and Monson are astute passers of the rock. They wisely feed Midlick and Jackson. Too often young players hunt their own shots when a more qualified scorer has an opening to release nearby. Monson and Phillips are not those players. They go out of their way to facilitate Midlick and Jackson scoring runs.
Head Coach Johnny Jackson could benefit from growth at the sophomore level. Both Moussa Camara and KJ Montague reside on the preseason varsity roster. Can they contribute at some point? What about freshman guard Bryant Rippy?
With Jackson and Middlick so entrenched as competent scorers young players are most likely to contribute energy, defensive, and rebounding.

Frontcourt help comes from Cole Levin and Max Leinweber. Though listed as a guard, Monson rebounds too. Midlick gets some errant shots on the defensive end. Overall, the team will not lean on post scoring.
The unit just has to pull down a greater share of rebounds this season.
Last season Rossview suffered a painful six-game losing streak in January. The Hawks struggled to point the ball in the basket, and averaged a measly 54 ppg during the stretch.
Scoring shouldn’t be a concern in 2017-2018. Defensive stops are the key. It is not a unique concept, but finding ways to keep Clarksville Northeast and Clarksville Northwest from scoring will determine their district success.
The “Norths” overwhelmed Rossview last year, winning four of the five times they met Rossview. Clarksville NE actually downed Rossview all three meetings.
