Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree : Day 1
The season has started here in the Palmetto State. Last night Prep Hoops SC took in the Carvers Bay Bears Jamboree out in the Choppee Community. Carvers Bay HS is located 18 miles northwest of Georgetown. The Bears Jamboree is a 3 Day Event covering several varsity boys basketball teams throughout the Lowcountry.
Here are the top performers in Day 1 action.
Andrew Gardner (2018) – Socastee HS
Gardner is the leader of the Braves this season. Gardner 6’7 a Lees Mcrae (NC) commit has a good skill level for his size. Gardner showed several times to bring the ball up the floor and had uncanny court vision. Gardner can step-out and knock down the perimeter jumper.
Gardner should help the Braves battle in the top of the Region this season with Sumter HS and Conway HS.
Travis Walters (2018) – Loris HS
Walters is a bull in china shop. Walters 6’2 (220) has broad shoulders and just delivers around the cup. Walters can put the ball down on the floor and drive when given the chance. Walters is a constant double-double guy for the Lions.
TJ Fladger (2018) – Creek Bridge HS (Gresham)
Fladger plays at rural Creek Bridge HS in Marion County. Fladger 6’3 played in the post here today out of necessity for the Warriors but projects to play on the perimeter. Fladger a great teammate has suffered on some hard times with the football program (have lost over 30 plus straight games) as the quarterback.
Fladger shows good promise on the hardwood with more skill work and perimeter shooting. Fladger according to the coaching staff with need to entertain junior college options for next season.
Kassius “Jay” Williams (2019) – Socastee HS (pictured on front)
Williams is a savvy guard with a lot of shake and bake to his game. Williams a lefty returned to the Grand Strand after playing up in New York State last season. Williams attended Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach and Gray Collegiate in the past.
Carrele Cooper (2020) – Andrews HS
Cooper is a name to know for the 2020 class. Cooper a wiry guard hit some early shots for the Yellow Jackets and made some crisp passes to start the night. Cooper with great length gets his hands on alot of balls for deflections.
