Bulldog Shootout – Championship Game
Prep Hoops SC was quite entertained in the Championship Game of the Bulldog Shootout held at Georgetown HS last evening. The game featured Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach and Oceanside Collegiate Academy. The game started with both teams coming to the game both wearing their white home jerseys.
Tournament officials decided after 15 minutes to make the Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach Saints change uniforms into the host Georgetown Bulldogs practice gear. This was a first for me in 18 years of covering basketball.
The Saints and Landsharks traded blows for the whole first half with Samuel Woods and Shane McGravy trading blows. Woods 6’8 left-handed forward played big in the paint for the Saints while McGravy was all over the glass for the Landsharks.
The Landsharks led 26-25 at the halftime with McGravy scoring 17 points. Adyn Kirby picked up his 5th foul and fouled out just 20 seconds into the 3rd quarter for the Landsharks.
The Saints came out and broke the tie when Jaylen Johnson (2018) connected on a three pointer at 3;26 mark of the 3rd quarter to make it a 38-35. Jace Stern (2019) who struggled all night from the floor with his shot did tie the game at 46-46 with 7:10 left in the 4th quarter.
Mike Green (2019) all everything player for the Saints finally got into the score book with a 3 point play at the 6:05 mark of the 4th quarter with the Saints leading 49-48. The Saints would pull away and go on a 14-2 run to end the game.Green was named MVP of the Bulldog Shootout.
The final score Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach 63 Oceanside Collegiate Academy 50.
Saints – Woods 22 points and 15 rebounds, Robert Guyton 13 points, Johnson 11 points, Green 6 points, Davis Guyton 4 points
