Who are the best uncommitted prospects remaining in the state of Illinois in the 2018 class after the early signing period? We break them down by position. Here are the point guards!
DeAndre Heckard (Romeoville)
Heckard is a broad shouldered point guard that has the ability to attack downhill and get to the rack. Improving shooter and solid passer. Kid that steps his game up against better competition.
Level Projection: Low-Major
Xavier Pinson (Simeon)
Pinson decommitted from Kent State after only being committed for a week. The slippery smooth point guard has the ability to get to the rack and make plays off the bounce. Three point shot made strides this summer.
Kaleb Thornton (Bolingbrook)
Wiry point guard that came off the bench for Meanstreets. He plays with great speed in the open floor and is best playing in an up and down game.
Branden Ellis (Warren)
Briefly committed to D2 Indianapolis before backing off that verbal. Ellis is a track athlete who brings that athleticism to the table getting to the rim. Shot has made strides.
Level Projection: D2
Isaiah Fuller (Oak Park River Forest)
Fuller is an undervalued point guard that has a feel for getting to the rim and makes plays with the ball in his hands. Primed for a big senior season.
Jalen Hodge (O’Fallon)
Hodge is a smooth lefty point guard that weaves in and out of the defense. Wins off the bounce and has the ability to find teammates in the drive and kick.
Kevin Caldwell (Alton)
Caldwell had a strong July for the Jets. Quick twitched point guard that has a burst of speed and proved to be a better shooter than we had previously seen.
Level Projection: D2/D3+
Michael Smith (Joliet West)
Smith is a plus perimeter shooter from the lead guard position. Sharp shooter had a strong summer with Illinois T-Wolves.
Level Projection: D3+
Chase Adams (Orr)
Small point guard that is a floor general. He is at his best when getting others involved and distributing the rock.
