The Basketball Interview with Michael Jones
This week Woodbury’s Michael Jones signed with Davidson but before that Jones spoke with Mike for The Basketball Interview.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
MJ: I enjoy shooting around after school with my teammates and watching the JV games.
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
MJ: I love how before big games our student section holds up newspapers when the opposing team is being introduced. My favorite memory of our student section was when we beat Chaska in 2OT.
Who is the toughest player that you have faced in your career?
MJ: Nathan Reuvers because he gave us the work last year.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
MJ: East Ridge since it’s in Woodbury and it’s always a good game with a lot of fans.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
MJ: I’m a fan of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
MJ: I usually wear Nike/Jordan.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
MJ: Playing at The Barn this summer at the Minnesota team camp was a fun experience with my team.
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
MJ: Madison Square Garden.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
MJ: The rest of the guys and I love working our youth camps, open gym with the young guys and seeing them in the stands at games.
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
MJ: “It’s better to be a player that plays with their heart, rather than a player who plays with their head” -Coach O.
Who is your basketball influence?
MJ: My dad.

MJ: I’ve always liked the Suns but they’re a dumpster fire nowadays
