The Basketball Interview with Jarvis Thomas-Omersa
Orono power forward and Minnesota commit Jarvis Thomas-Omersa spoke with Prep Hoops today for The Basketball Interview sharing his favorite parts of the game.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
JTO: Snack break during the day along with a Carbo load for dinner. Sometimes we have a “dress up day” on game day
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
JTO: The fans go crazy! Especially when I dunk! They have cool dress themes for games. The younger kids asking for pictures with me and my autograph after games. I have had a lot of kids from the other team ask me as well.
Who is the toughest player that you have faced in your career?
JTO: I am my toughest opponent, always got to work harder.
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
JTO: DeLaSalle, this game determines who is going to win State.
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
JTO: Aaron Gordon because I feel like we play similar ball.
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
JTO: Favorite brand of gear is Nike. Nothing’s better than Nike, kind of like the EYBL.
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
JTO: Favorite venue to play ball in is Williams Arena
What court that you haven’t played on would you dream of playing on?
JTO: Court that I haven’t played on that I dream of playing on is the one that’s gonna be at US Bank stadium in April of 2019, we have a championship to bring home!
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
JTO: We have great relationships with the youth at our school. We are there role models, they look up to us!
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
JTO: Best coaching advise I received is from Coach Jon Williams when he asked me “what’s you why?” Why do I play basketball
