All 2nd Region Team Predictions
As the the Kentucky High School season gets underway next week, Prep Hoops Kentucky makes some All-Region Team predictions. Here, we take a look at the 2nd Region:
All 2nd Region Team Predictions:
- Dekeyvan Tandy, University Heights Academy (6’1, 2019 point guard)
The argument can be made that Tandy is one of , if not the top prospect in Kentucky’s ultra-talented 2019 class. With offers already from Florida, Oklahoma, New Mexico State, and Western Kentucky, Tandy is quickly becoming one of the most sought after guards in this area of the country. As a sophomore Tandy averaged 23.6 points and 4 rebounds per game, shooting 55% from the field (40% from 3-point range).
- De’Torrion Ware, Christian County (6’4, 2018 forward)
Ware will try to push Christian County past Hopkinsville this season. Christian County lost out to Hopkinsville in both the 8th District and 2nd Region championship games, keeping the Colonels from reaching the state tournament. But he’ll have to do it without Coastal Carolina recruit Jaylen Sebree (graduation). Ware averaged 20 points and 7.4 rebounds per game as a junior last season.
- Cade Cunningham, Madisonville North Hopkins (6’0, 2019 guard)
Cunningham had a good summer, competing in a number of camps and exposure events. At Ric Bouls’ Blue-Chip Camp, he earned a spot on the top 20 all-star game roster (beating out 160 campers). At Next Up Recruits, Cunningham showed the ability to be a knockdown shooter from deep as well as creating for himself and teammates off the dribble. Cunningham holds an offer from Brescia University (NAIA) already. He averaged just 6 points a game last season as a sophomore. Expect that number to increase immensely next season. The Maroons won the 7th District tournament championship and earned a berth to play in the regional tournament last season.
- Ta’Quan Hollowell, University Heights Academy (6’4, 2019 guard)
With Tray Hollowell (older brother) now at Wofford College, expect Ta’Quan to assist “KyKy” Tandy in guiding the Blazers to success. Like Tandy, Hollowell is one of the top prospects in Kentucky’s 2019 class. Ta’Quan averaged 7.5 points and 6 rebounds per game last season. As eluded to previously, expect those numbers to increase. UHA will be looking to cover the loss of Tray’s 20+ points per game.
- James Nicholas, Hopkinsville (6’4, 2019 guard)
Add Nicholas to the list of talented 2019 guards representing the 2nd region. Nicholas averaged just over 6 points and 4 rebounds per game as a sophomore last season. Expect his production to increase with now former Tiger Jalen Johnson playing for Aspire Basketball Academy in Louisville.
Keep An Eye On:
- Corey Trice, Christian County (6’5, 2018 Forward)
Trice has committed to play football at Purdue, but that doesn’t mean he’s not a baller on the hardwood. Trice averaged 11.4 points and 6 rebounds last season.
- Devon Triplet, Trigg County (5’10, 2018 Guard)
Triplet averaged 18.8 points per game and grabbed 6.1 rebounds per game as a junior last season, which is impressive when you consider his height. Triplet will try to help Trigg County improve on their 8-19 record from last year.
