All 8th Region Team Predictions
As the the Kentucky High School season gets underway this week, Prep Hoops Kentucky makes some All-Region Team predictions. Here, we take a look at the 8th Region:
All 8th Region Team Predictions:
- Cobe Penny, Anderson County / 5’10 G / 2018
Penny and the Bearcats hope to have a second chance at making a state tournament appearance this season. They defeated Collins in the district championship game, but fell to the Titans in the regional final. Penny averaged 23 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Cobe has committed to play at Bellarmine.
- Zach Kelch, Simon Kenton / 6’7 PF / 2018
Kelch played AAU ball with Twenty Two Vision this summer while competing in the Adidas Gauntlet Gold Circuit. That experience allowed him to be seen by a number of D-I programs. By the end of the summer, Kelch had made the decision to commit to play basketball at the Naval Academy. He averaged 12.2 points and 7.8 rebounds as a junior.
- Devin Young, South Oldham / 6’4 SG,SF / 2018
Young averaged just over 16 points and 6 rebounds as a junior. He has visited D-III national tournament team Mount Saint Joseph and has a number of other small college interest as well.
- Dionte Miles, Walton-Verona / 6’8 PF,C / 2019
Miles spent the end of the summer playing for the Louisville Magic on the Adidas gold circuit and it allowed us to see what he is really capable of. Sky is the limit for Miles. Currently considered one of the top prospects in Kentucky’s 2019 class. Miles averaged 12 points and 6 rebounds last season as a sophomore.
- Christian Gritton, Anderson County / F / 2018
Gritton helped Anderson County achieve a 21-12 record last season and averaged 12.1 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Look for Anderson County to make a run to the regional final this season on the backs of senior leadership.
Keep An Eye On:
- Luke Morrison, South Oldham / 6’4 SG / 2020
Morrison averaged right at 7 points per game as a freshman last season. Already standing 6’4 going into his sophomore campaign, Morrison is sure to have a break out season. He will be looked to replace a scoring load left by senior Jo Griffin.
- Marcellus Vail, Collins / 6’2 SG / 2020
Vail had a really good summer playing with the KY Defenders (with his teammate Dayvion McKnight). Another year and more experience will prove Vail to be a top 2020 prospect in the state.
- Dayvion McKnight, Collins / 6’1 PG / 2020
McKnight averaged right at 8 points and 5 rebounds per game as a freshman last season. He scored 12 points in the first round of Collins’ state tournament game vs. Elliott County. McKnight and Vail will continue to make Collins a region contender and a threat to make the state tournament going forward.
- Dylan Pittman, Anderson County / G,F / 2018
Averaged 10.5 points and 4 rebounds per game last season. ACHS staff loves this kid, one of three seniors that again hope to help lead to Rupp Arena at the end of the season.
