We take a look at some of the 2018 class who have recently committed to colleges, received offers, or taken visits.  We even have updates on a couple of the best junior college players in the country who both graduated from local high schools.

Kamaka Hepa – Jefferson HS/Portland Basketball Club

The clear cut #1 prospect in the state (consensus Top 50 nationally) recently committed to Texas, choosing them over Gonzaga, USC, and others.  The highly skilled big man should fit in well in Coach Shaka Smart’s pick & roll offense.

Kelton Samore  – Grant HS/Portland Basketball Club

The skilled 6’8 forward has unofficially narrowed his list to Air Force, Penn, Brown, and Tulane.  Samore has an official visit scheduled for Air Force and is working to set up trips to his other choices.

Filip Fullerton – Southridge HS/Team Fly

The rapidly improving 6’10 big man recently gave his verbal commitment to Portland State and first year coach Barret Peery.  Fullerton joins Kyle Greeley of West Salem who had verbally committed to the Vikings earlier in the fall.

Dyshawn Hobson – Corvallis HS/Team Fly

The 6’2 point guard recently picked up an offer from Providence University in Great Falls, Montana.  The NAIA program is coached by former Portland State assistant Anthony Owens.  Hobson is also receiving interest from a variety of high academic programs around the country.

Jalen Thompson – West Linn HS/Elite 24

The sharp shooting lefty picked up his first formal offer from D2 Hawaii Hilo on the big island of Kona.  Thompson has garnered attention from most D2 and NAIA programs on the west coast and is likely to add to his Hilo offer before the season is over.

Rowan Anderson – Cleveland HS/Elite 24

The lefty point guard with a high basketball IQ and gpa recently took an official visit to Lewis & Clark College.  Anderson is also starting to hear from NAIA and D2 programs in the west.

Dalton Renne – Banks HS/Team Fly

The 6’7 wing from class 4A weeks has an upcoming visit scheduled to George Fox and is also hearing from Pacific Lutheran and Eastern Washington among others.

Isaac Amaral-Artharee – Central Catholic HS/Score Athletics

The 6’2 combo guard has seen his recruiting pick up in recent weeks, especially among D2 programs such as St. Martins and Chaminade.

Jake Estep – Beaverton HS

The 6’4 wing who was recently named the preseason POY in the Metro League (see Prep Hoops Metro League preview) recently gave a verbal commitment to in state D2 power Western Oregon University.

Ty Horner – Sisters HS/Elite 24

The improving 6’8 post from central Oregon has used his shooting touch and basketball IQ to help garner recent offers from D2 Western Oregon and Biola from Los Angeles.

Jacob Hjort – Columbia River HS/SW Washington Hoops

The 6’2 sharp shooter recently gave a verbal commitment to Western Oregon and coach Jim Shaw.  The Wolves are one of the preseason favorites to win the ultra tough GNAC Conference and advance to the national tournament.

Kylor Kelly – Gervais HS/Lane Community College

The 7’0 big man who was lightly recruited out of class 3A Gervais in 2016, recently gave a verbal commitment to Pac 12 Oregon State.  An unbelievable journey in a few short years for Kelly.

Charles Jones – David Douglas HS/College of Southern Idaho JC

The all state guard in 2016 for David Douglas, Jones blew up in some summer showcase events and had offers from multiple Pac 12 schools before committing to play next season for the University of Utah.
