10 Best : Socastee at Myrtle Beach
Prep Hoops SC took in the action at Myrtle Beach HS with rival Socastee HS traveling over for the game. This game was the season opener for both teams. The Seahawks jumped out to a 16-15 first quarter lead under the leadership of senior guard Robert Swanson, Swanson scored 11 points in the opening quarter. The teams took the game into halftime at 31-26 with the Seahawks leading.
The game got a little chippy in the 3rd quarter with the Seahawks leading 50-43 at 33.6 mark over the Braves, Jay Williams was called for a foul and tempers started to flare a bit. Swanson connected on 4 straight free throws to make it a 54-43 game. Braves big man Andrew Gardner was already on the bench with 4 fouls.
Emorie Knox time after time tonight beat the Braves defense down in transition and scored several baskets at the rack. Knox finished the night with 20 points for the Seahawks.

Swanson led the Seahawks all night long to finish the evening with 23 points in the season opener. Swanson is just so crafty with the ball and heady to make his teammates better around him.
Play of the Game : Last 15.7 seconds of the 1st half, the Seahawks go on a 5-0 run to finish the half on 2 Emorie Knox full court lay ups to take a 31-26 into the half time break.
Best Offensive Performance : Kendrell Generette (2018) Socastee HS
Generette kept the Braves in the game all night long with his play. Generette was slashing to the basket and scoring the ball through traffic. Generette finished the night with 19 points leading the Braves in scoring.
Best Defensive Performance : Emorie Knox (2020) Myrtle Beach HS
Knox is a extremely quick and one of the Top 10 players in the 2020 Palmetto State Class. Still a virtual unknown around the state, Knox plays AAU with a local team the Myrtle Beach Phenoms. Knox was in the passing the lanes all night and leading them into uncontested layups.
Best Guy off the Bench : Jace Allen (2018) Myrtle Beach HS
Allen is a tough minded kid on the floor that provides a good spark and energy when he plays. Allen a defensive back on the football finished the night with 6 points and some floor burns,
Best Underclassmen : Emorie Knox (2020) Myrtle Beach HS
Knox is extremely talented and still several people don’t know who he really is as a player. Knox is very quick end to end on the floor and can really turn the corner quick.
Best Guy Under the Radar : Kassius “Jay” Williams (2019) Socastee HS
Williams is a bit of a volume shooter at times on the floor. Williams transferred back to the area after playing in New York State last season. Williams a left-handed guard finished the evening with 16 points.
Best Project : Cameron Spain (2020) Socastee HS
Spain 6’7 is still learning the game and angles on the floor. Spain will project out fine in time with just more playing time and confidence.
Best Small College Project : O’Neil McBride (2018) Myrtle Beach HS
McBride 6’6 combo forward has really improved his game over the past season. McBride can play inside-out on the floor and is a deceptive athlete. McBride has very solid academics according to Head Coach Craig Martin.
Takeaway :
The Seahawks have a great back court in Swanson and Knox.
The Braves will need to figure out to get everyone on the same page at times. Andrew Gardner (2018) finished the evening with just 7 points. Alex Collins (2018) was a pleasant surprise with 14 points for the raves in the loss.
