Talen Horton-Tucker Commits to Iowa State
Simeon 2018 small forward Talen Horton-Tucker has made his college choice. The premier wing in the state and #2 overall recruit has committed to attend Iowa State.
“It was where I felt at home at. Being on my visit with the guys there I enjoyed it a lot with George (Conditt) and Zion (Griffin). I liked it a lot. I have some friends that will be going to school close to me.”
He joins a stellar class for the Cyclones as they reeled in three of the top five prospects in the state of Illinois with Horton-Tucker (#2), Zion Griffin (#3), and George Conditt (#5).
THT is a 6’5” small forward that is crafty knowing how to get where he wants on the floor to get stuff done. He handles the ball exceptionally well for a wing and has the body control to finish at the cup. What we like most about his game is his ability to be a stat sheet stuffer and contribute in a variety of areas. As a scorer he can put the ball in the hoop at multiple levels. Gets points at the hoop through contact. Works well in the mid-range pulling up off the bounce. He has become a fairly consistent three point threat off the catch over the last year. As a distributor he passes very well from the wing. Overall high IQ and feel for the game seeing the floor. THT is a sound rebounder that clears the defensive glass. With his rebounding and ability to handle he can take the ball off the glass and go down the floor looking to make a play. One of the most complete basketball players in the state.
He had a monster July with Team Rose on the circuit to close out his grassroots career. Posted several huge games and saw his stock soar from a recruiting standpoint. THT is one of the top contenders for Mr. Basketball this season and will look to lead his Wolverines to a 4A state title. He is ranked as the top small forward in the state’s 2018 class and #2 overall prospect. THT should make an immediate impact at the high-major level.
